RON GEESIN
I am currently exploring a non Western music possibility with a dear friend. A dear friend who happens to be a bona fide genius and semi myth of outernational / alternative / avant art lore.
Ron Geesin is the person who transfigured Pink Floyd’s Atom Heart Mother. Who conjured up the dreamstate soundtrack to Sunday Bloody Sunday for John Schlesinger. Who wrote a number of books about the shifting spanner. Who lives in a house in the heart of East Sussex with an arcane universe of early jazz 78’s and a studio which should have a UNESCO World Heritage status.
That Ron Geesin. Channelling strange magic out of violin, tapes, a detuned banjo, voice and self invented instruments which have no, as yet, name. We are creating sound which is part ethno forgery, part re imagined Afrobeat and part fragmented and unfamiliar rhythm pattern abstraction.
