CARON WHEELER
Beyond work and creativity I am proud to consider Caron Wheeler a very precious friend. Through Soul II Soul we have become frequent collaborators.
Caron is more than a fantastic vocalist. She represents a significant part of the legacy of Black British Culture. Before Soul II Soul she had considerable acclaim as a founder member of seminal Lovers Rock trio Brown Sugar. Beyond Soul II Soul she cut a successful solo career. She is, simply, an amazing artist with an incredible voice. In an era of quick sensation and one near hit wonders Caron is the dignity and gift of a true musician.
I am immensely proud of the work we do together. A few examples of this are available in “SHOP” Seriously. I would urge anybody with a love of music, of soul, of street culture, of Black history, of female empowerment and of the power of a unique voice to go right back and work through everything she has done. Sometimes the people who decide who to give an OBE to get it right!
